The Silicon Valley Region is here! The region consists of the counties of Santa Clara, San Benito, Monterey, parts of San Mateo and parts of Alameda. Both SF Bay and Silicon Valley Regions will work together this year on trainings and tournaments to ensure a smooth transition. Trainings will be held in the Contra Costa area and San Jose area. The new directors, Barbara Krishnan and Barbara Han would like to extend a hearty welcome to all former, existing, and new Omers to the newly formed region! The problems are available and the 2007/2008 program guide has been posted and can be found on the national website at http://www.odysseyofthemind.com
It’s time to pull your team together and start thinking about which problem to tackle for this year. Remember to visit our website often for updates and information: http://www.svodysseyofthemind.org We have electronic (PDF) versions of the full problems available. We are not allowed to post them, but we are allowed to email them to coaches whose schools have already sent in the registration fees. Please contact us if you would like a copy, and let us know which problem you are coaching. SCHOOL PRESENTATIONS
If you would like to schedule a presentation for parents and children at your school, please use the form at the svodysseyofthemind.org web site to request a presentation. Note that we do not organize the meeting. It is up to you to organize it, but we will be happy to come and present the program highlights, and help you get “jump started”. CALENDAR
Coaches Training: Oct. 20 (Willow Creek Center), Nov. 10 (St. Christopher in San Jose), Dec. 2 (Willow Creek Center). Note: if you are planning on attending the Nov 10th training in San Jose, please go to the svodysseyofthemind.org web site and register. We may not be able to accommodate all, so please register early to avoid disappointment! Judges Training: TBD SF Bay Regional Tournament: February 23, 2008 (location TBD, date tentative) Silicon Valley Regional Tournament: March 8, 2008 (Del Mar High School) State Tournament: April 5, 2008 (location TBD) World Tournament: May 31 – June 3, 2008 University of Maryland PROGRAM REGISTRATION
The online registration system is up and available. You can register your School/Organization by visiting: http://www.odysseyofthemind.com/registration/default.php You can either register online and pay with a credit card or download a form and pay by check/purchase order. Remember only 1 membership per school is necessary unless you have multiple teams performing the same problem. You can always add additional memberships later if you need them. MONTHLY NEWSLETTER This is the first of the newsletters that will be published at least monthly. The newsletters will be numbered and will be posted on the regional website, so if you miss one, you will find it there. If you know of a coach, co-coach, or someone else that should be receiving this newsletter, have them go to our website at www.svodysseyofthemind.org to register to receive the newsletters.
