Tournament registration has the following steps:
Note: Steps 1 & 2 must be completed by the school (or other sponsoring organization) Odyssey co-ordinator
- School Membership: Prior to January 15, 2008, ensure that your school is registered with the international Odyssey of the Mind organization. To register, and obtain a membership number for your school, please have your school co-ordinator go to this link. Note that the Membership Registration fee of $135 is due with the registration.
- State Fee Payment: Once your school has registered with the international Odyssey of the Mind organization, they will receive an invoice for $55 from the California State Odyssey of the Mind association. That fee needs to be paid, as per the invoice. For any questions regarding this phase of the registration, please send email to state association treasurer

Note: Steps 3 to 5 must be completed by EACH team
- Team Registration: Each team competing in the Regional Tournament must register using this link. (note: this link will take you to the international Odyssey of the Mind web site)
- Regional Tournament Fees: Each team needs to pay the Tournament Registration Fee of $70 prior to January 31st, 2008. Late registration fee of $100 will be accepted between February 1st and February 15th, 2008. NO registration will be accepted after February 15th. There are two methods for paying this. You can either mail in the payment (along with a printed copy of your registration confirmation from the international web site) to the address below. Or, you can use a credit card to pay online, using Google Checkout. There is more information on this below.
- Judge & Volunteer Registration: Finally, you need to have both a Judge and a Volunteer register with the international Odyssey of the Mind website, by clicking on this link.
YOU WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TOURNAMENT, UNLESS ALL 5 STEPS ABOVE ARE COMPLETED!
To pay by mail, please print out the registration confirmation from the Odyssey of the Mind web site, and mail it to the following address, with a check for $70 payable to "Silicon Valley Odyssey of the Mind". During the late registration period (Feb 1st-15th) the check must be for $100. After February 15th, we will not accept registrations.

There are 3 components to the cost of membership:
- The association fees directly paid to the Odyssey of the Mind international organization (per membership)
- State fees paid to the California State Odyssey of the Mind organization (per membership)
- Tournament fees paid to this regional organization, per team that will compete in the regional tournament
The first two are enumerated and explained at the California State Odyssey of the Mind website, on the link Cost of Participation.
The third fee, paid to the region to offset the costs of running the regional tournament is usually announced around December, and is due before the 31st of January of the tournament year. This is because the costs of running the tournament are variable year to year, and it takes us that long to calculate the fair amount to charge. Last year, the tournament fees were $70 per team for on-time registration, and $100 per team for late registration. Caveat - this DOES vary from year to year, and, unfortunately, usually upwards! |
